• Desktop design & estimation (SMART Estimator): develop and maintain a 3D scaffold design application that generates quotes for complex buildings and layouts in seconds, along with material lists and construction drawings. Built with C# and SharpDX, with BIM model integration (IFC/DXF/DWG).
• Web & mobile inspection (SMART Scaffolder): develop and maintain the Azure-hosted web dashboard and the mobile apps used for scaffold inspection and handover, built with Flutter for Android and iOS. Implement queue-based background processing for data uploaded from the mobile apps, including transcription and image resizing.
• Release & agile delivery: run scrum ceremonies across all teams and own release delivery: monthly web and backend releases with hotfixes as needed, 3–4 desktop releases a year, and mobile releases on demand.
• Architecture & DevOps: design the Azure-hosted architecture (Azure Functions, Web API, API Management, Storage and SQL databases) using C#, .NET Core, Angular2 and Flutter, with automated build and deployment pipelines on Jenkins and source control in Bitbucket.
• Test automation: developed automated testing frameworks using Appium for the mobile apps and Playwright for the web application.
• Mentoring & code quality: directed rigorous code reviews, unblocked architectural impediments, instituted pair programming and continuously enforced TDD.

Led a team of about 10 building Industry 4.0 solutions that digitise factory processes for manufacturing customers in Japan.

• Digitised end-to-end shop-floor processes for 4 pilot customers in Japan, using kiosk-based web applications with IoT integration that capture welding and bending process data.
• Built Cyber Office, a product that records all data about a part: the part, its drawings and every process used to produce it, so users can see how similar parts were made before.
• Used the ACIS kernel to convert SolidWorks SAT files into JSON for browser rendering with Babylon.js, with an Angular front end, ASP.NET Web API services and AWS.
• Led the team as Scrum Master, running backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, retrospectives and monthly management reviews, and coaching engineers on modern design standards and baseline testing metrics.

Member of the 10-person IDE team that developed and maintained Atmel Studio, the embedded-systems IDE built on the Visual Studio Shell. Gold Appreciation Award (Q4 2014) for technical contribution and agile delivery.

• QTouch: owned QTouch support in Atmel Studio, a capacitive-touch toolset widely used by customers building touch-based embedded products. Built a custom wizard UI for creating touch projects, plus views for touch visualisation and sensor tuning, as Visual Studio Shell extensions in C#.
• Atmel Software Framework (ASF): adapted the existing Python scripts that ship with ASF content in Git so they run through IronPython and can be called from C#. This let Atmel Studio pull only the files a project needs when ASF, the standard way to add libraries to a firmware project, is added to an existing project.
• Practised test-driven development with Git and Jenkins CI. Built automation for manual firmware tasks and daily build verification, and improved code coverage.
• Served as Scrum Master and gathered requirements across the firmware and hardware groups, turning them into groomed user stories.

Led a team of 20 developing and maintaining CAM and machine-control software for Amada's machines, serving Amada customers mainly in Japan.

• Developed and maintained TubeCAM (tube cutting), YAGCAM (robotic welding) and VCAM (combined sheet-metal laser cutting and punching): complex CAM products with 3D parts, geometry-based processing, NC code simulation and time study.
• Built the kinematics and inverse-kinematics solver for YAGCAM that computes and displays robotic arm positions for welding, supported by 3D and 2D rendering across the products.
• Designed algorithms for tool allocation, automatic sequence optimisation, laser layout optimisation and real-time process simulation.
• Worked on the FMS Controller application for under a year.
• Delivered the products through to enterprise installers and presented technical status to executive management. Technology: C++, VC++, C#, SQL Server.

Software developer on trading-system products for Cognizant Benelux, building connectivity to European stock exchanges.

• Developed in C++ and VC++ on the NEX Trader, NEX Automate and NEX Data products, connecting to Euronext, Xetra and the London Stock Exchange.
• Worked on low-latency, high-volume market data processing, including Euronext data received over a satellite feed, mainly in C++.
• Developed the Luxembourg Stock Exchange gateway and travelled to Amsterdam to test and fix it on site.
• Built a generic gateway for exchanges using the FIX protocol, so a new exchange connection needs only configuration.
• Resolved tier-1 production performance bottlenecks and expanded the multi-user capabilities of the gateways. Technology: C++, VC++, XML, FIX 4.2.
